What is a notarial bond?

A notarial bond is an instrument used to secure a creditor’s right to payment from the sale of goods of movable property owned by the debtor. This is useful where a creditor is loaning money to a debtor, and the debtor has no other security for the loan, but has movable property of sufficient value to cover the repayment of the amount loaned, if the debtor defaults.
